Rugged, what does it mean to us?
Share
Rugged is thrown around a lot when it comes to just about any outdoor related equipment. At Iron Spear we have a unique perspective.
To us rugged means that anyone can use the item and use it in the most extreme conditions and having it come back still working.
Our background here has allowed us to produce some of the most ridiculous hard use tools the earth has ever known.
Living/producing in northern Idaho, only 30 miles from the Canadian boarder, we get 3-4’ of snow on the ground every winter at low elevations, hard continual rains in the fall, 100 degree dry summers, and snow packed/wet muddy springs.
Basically the best place on earth to live and test rugged tools.
Our Gorilla comms radios have been tested from the bottom of Priest Lake, to the top of Scotchmans peak (7500’) in blizzards, and stuck in 115deg vehicles for days on end. If that’s not rigorous testing under adverse conditions I don’t know what is.
Lots of companies and people claim “rugged” but do they truly have the means and the fortitude to test that claim? We do.
