GMRS Antenna: Unbreakable NiTi HT Antenna (462–467 MHz, BNC)

The GMRS Antenna is Iron Spear’s handheld BNC antenna for GMRS, tuned mid-band for GMRS (about 465 MHz). GMRS runs 462.550–467.725 MHz, so this one is centered in the middle of the band. Same Idaho build, same flexible NiTi/nitinol element and same Armor Selection as Maximus, cut for GMRS at about 5.5" long. “Unbreakable” = NiTi spring-back / daily-carry, not mil-spec. For dual-band 2m/70cm see Maximus; for 70cm/440 see Minimus; for 155/465 see Guardian. New to GMRS antennas? Read the GMRS handheld antenna upgrade guide. Connectors: Handheld Radio Adapter Guide.

Made to order: New items are made to order until stock is built. Lead time is 6–8 days.

Stop letting a stiff stock stubby be the weak point on your GMRS radio. The GMRS Antenna is handcrafted from flexible Nickel Titanium (NiTi), tuned for the middle of the GMRS band. NiTi spring-back — bends and returns for daily carry. Built for hard work. Backed by a Lifetime Warranty.

"WARNING: High SWR can damage your radio. These antennas are factory-tuned and can't be adjusted. Transmit only with the antenna fully seated, never through a damaged cable or a loose or wrong adapter, and stop and check if your radio shows a warning or gets hot."

Why the GMRS Antenna:

  • NiTi Spring-Back: Premium Nickel Titanium — bends and returns for daily carry.
  • Cut for GMRS: Centered at about 465 MHz, mid-band for 462–467 MHz. Not a dual-band compromise.
  • Handmade Quality: Built in-house, same shop as Maximus, Minimus and Guardian.
  • Standard BNC: Swap it on. Adapters are on the store if your radio is SMA.
  • Lifetime Warranty: Built to last, guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects.

Built for GMRS

  • Same armor as Maximus: Snake, Dual Color Expedition, OD Green, Brown, Black, Orange, Red, Blue.
  • Durable construction: Bend it, twist it, crush it through the brush. It returns to form.
  • Radio fit: Standard BNC for handhelds. Most GMRS handhelds have an SMA jack, so plan on an SMA↔BNC adapter. Match the gender first, then check wall depth.
  • Licensing: Check the license and service rules for your radio. We sell antennas, not licenses. See the GMRS License Guide.

Resources

Want the whip off the radio body—onto pack, plate, or shoulder? See the Antenna Relocation Kit 48" (or the 24" kit for shorter runs). BNC path; many HTs need an SMA↔BNC adapter first.

Additional Information

FAQ

What band is the GMRS Antenna for?

GMRS. It is tuned mid-band at about 465 MHz, centered in the 462.550–467.725 MHz GMRS band.

Is the GMRS Antenna dual-band?

No. It is mono-band, cut for GMRS. For a BNC 2m/70cm dual-band HT antenna, see Maximus.

How is it different from Guardian?

Guardian is tuned for 155/465 MHz for public safety and SAR work. The GMRS Antenna is a single-band whip cut for the middle of the GMRS band. See Guardian.

Is the GMRS Antenna a nitinol BNC HT antenna?

Yes. It uses NiTi/nitinol in the line and has a BNC connector. “Unbreakable” describes spring-back and daily-carry resilience only.

Can I use it with an SMA radio?

It is BNC. Most GMRS handhelds use SMA, so confirm SMA↔BNC fit with the handheld radio adapter guide.

Do I need a license?

Check the license and service rules for your radio. We sell antennas, not licenses. See the GMRS License Guide.

Where is the GMRS Antenna made?

It is made in-house in Idaho, USA.
